The Science of
How iLs & SSP Works
At BrainAzium we use the Integrative Listening System (iLs) and the Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP)
(Rental and Purchasing options available)
iLs is based on the fact that we can change our brain – we can essentially re-wire it through specific and repeated stimulation, a concept known as neuroplasticity. As in building strength and endurance with physical exercise, we are able to build neurological pathways and synaptic activity at any age.
iLs trains for brain/body integration through a staged approach, starting with the fundamentals of sensory integration and then extending through more complex cognitive functions, including language, self-expression and social skills.
The SSP is a research-based therapy showing significant results in just five days in the following areas:
- Social and emotional difficulties
- Auditory sensitivities
- Anxiety and trauma related challenges
- Inattention
- Stressors that impact social engagement
- Preparedness for further listening
Every time we speak we hear ourselves in two way: externally and internally. Our voice carries through the air waves and enters our outer ear; simultaneously, the vibration from our larynx is carried by the body (primarily our bones, which are excellent conductors) to the inner ear. Have you ever noticed that your voice sounds different when you’re hearing it played back in a recording? The difference is because you’re not getting the resonance of the internal sound you receive when you speak.
The Dreampad technology replicates this natural process by playing music through transducers which convert the music into a vibration that travels internally to your inner ear.

Why Occupational
Therapists Love IM
Occupational Therapists understand quality of life, and they know how important the simple things can be. Life is about playing with your kids, gardening, playing an instrument, dancing, and sometimes, balancing the checkbook. Life is about…well, living. Regardless of the situation, maintaining functional independence is crucial for completing most activities of daily living (ADLs). To do that, your clients need to restore the efficient, synchronized communication between their functional brain networks; this communication relies on timing.
